Program Description

Solidarity in our culture is a big value. We are always ready to help our family, friends and neighbours. Also, our country is open to new cultures and brazilians are specialists in welcoming people from all over the world. If you share the feeling of solidarity, you will feel like at home in Brazil.

As a volunteer you will support a local organisation dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for learning, play and social interaction within the local community.

The institution helps around 100 children daily either after or before their school time. During their stay at the institution they receive balanced food and participate of several different workshops such as pedagogical support, music, dance, physical education, violin, flute, percussion, arts & crafts, theater, and dental help.

The volunteer will assist the instructor (teacher) with music classes, sport activities and language workshops.

Find the testimony of the Germany volunteer from BZ program Ena :

“I am going to tell you something about my work in the kindergarten now. I have worked there for two months now. In the beginning, it was kind of hard for me because I don’t speak Portuguese very well and couldn’t understand the instructions of the other teachers but now I do. I work 6 hours a day from 9 am to 3 pm, but it depends on how much work we have. The boss is very flexible with working hours. My main tasks are to care for the children. This includes playing with them, brushing their teeth, changing clothes, going to the bathroom with them and giving them water and food. The children are 3 to 6 years old and there are 140 kids in the school. I also eat lunch at work for free every day. I really enjoy the work and it’s definitely not a hard job, because sometimes you just play with the kids. It’s also important to now that the kids there are very poor.
I hope you like to join the team. It’s very fun!
Best regards,

Ena”
