Why tractors without violins?
That is one of the most significant phrases of recent Costa Rican history, a declaration of love for arts and culture beyond the everyday jobs and work responsibilities. In Costa Rica, there is a network of NGO’s and institutions devoted to offering people opportunities to develop knowledge and abilities related to different kinds of arts and cultural expressions.
However, in a country with many different needs, resources for cultural promotion are usually scarce. In that context the helping hands and abilities of international volunteers are always welcome. AFS Costa Rica works with multiple organizations to pair together skilled and interested volunteers with projects where their artistic abilities or interest in culture can make a positive impact in society.
From public libraries to music and arts schools to cultural promotion in community government’s offices, there are many different opportunities to share your skills and learn from others. The specific activities to be done can vary, depending of the specific need of the hosting organizations and the abilities, initiative and interest of the international volunteers.
