This program gives you a unique opportunity to develop your full potential by spending almost a full year in Denmark working as a volunteer at a project and afterwards studying at a folk college.
Your volunteer experience
During the first half of your stay you will work as a volunteer and stay either with a host family or at the project. You select yourself which project area you want to work with. This gives you the opportunity to share in and contribute to the life of a community in Denmark and at the same time promote intercultural understanding.
You can choose between a variety of areas such as working with small children in kindergartens or nurseries, teaching children, young people or adults, working with environment, sustainability and agriculture, working with arts & culture and much more …
Your folk college experience
Danish Folk Colleges offer non-formal adult education. Most students are between 18 and 24 years old. You sleep, eat, study and spend your spare time at the college. There are no academic requirements for admittance and there are no exams – but you will get a diploma as a proof of your attendance.
A folk college experience offers you a host of opportunities to grow in self-knowledge and to develop your own talents. One important arena for learning is the college’s social life during evenings and weekends.
You choose your folk college based on your area of interests or plans for the future. You can choose between seven different folk colleges, i.e. Snoghøj (focus on culture), Brenderup (focus on interculture and arts), Vestjylland (focus on arts and sustainability), , Odder (focus on film production, design and arts), Silkeborg (focus on music, sports and nature), Nordjyllands (focus on sports) and Egaa (for young people aged 16.5 to 19) .
