Would you like to work with blind people while learning new things at an NGO that promotes the independence of visually impaired and by teaching integration among society?

The non-profit organization was founded in Santiago in 1988. Its principal mission is to take care of and give attention to persons with visual disability through integrative rehabilitation, labor insertion and social assistance to blind persons and people with low vision. The organization offers educational programs in different areas, assistance with transforming documents into the Braille-alphabet, free meals for blind people, provides audible educational material for schools and universities and runs many more programs to empower and integrate blind people. They also provide medical attention and run programs to prevent blindness.

Possible tasks for you are: give language courses to the blind people and staff of the foundation, take care of the schools’ vegetable garden, help in the computer science-center and participate in all activities they have.

Furthermore you will take part in an arrival orientation, a mid stay orientation and an end of stay camp. In these camps important subjects will be discussed such as the participant’s relationship and role within the host family, project and community. You will get to know new  particular techniques about blind people and have the possibility not only to learn new skills but also to grow as a person.
